Anyone know anything about them? Is it just YABSE, or is there some secret sauce? They’re sending a lot of traffic my way, so I’m not complaining.

Good question! I noticed them sending a ton of traffic my way as well. They must be "auto-checking" blogs b/c I sure as hell didn't register with them. They may or may not be working with the technorati APIs or something else. Whatever, as long as they send traffic ;)

They have been hitting my blog pretty hard of late but they keep getting bounced by my anti-spam software which considers like their invalid HTTP request headers (the range field specifically). Also, I notice they don't bother obeying my "robots.txt" rules, so that's another minus for them. Worst of all, Dave Ryan's comments about "as long as they send traffic" seem a bit optimistic at best. Have you looked at their website? They publish your ENTIRE post, unlike Technorati and other legitimate trackers. Think about how much traffic that will actually drive your way.
When managers hold endless meetings, the programmers write games. When accountants talk of quarterly profits, the development budget is about to be cut. When senior scientists talk blue sky, the clouds are about to roll in. Truly, this is not the Tao of Programming. When managers make commitments, game programs are ignored. When accountants make long-range plans, harmony and order are about to be restored. When senior scientists address the problems at hand, the problems will soon be solved. Truly, this is the Tao of Programming. -- Geoffrey James, "The Tao of Programming"
