I guess there goes our right to complain about corporate bastards abusing popular culture. - Looks like it's the other way round with pop stars sucking up to the big corporates. For a shabby car! Disgusting, particularly as the guy should be able to buy his own.
Wanting everything for free is also sending a strange message.
I'm pretty sure, DC's boss is Jürgen Schrempp, btw.

Conspicuous consumption is, and pretty much always has been, an element of big-budget hip hop (as opposed to undie hip hop.) It's one of the chief cultural differences between rock and rap.

I don't know Dave, a lot of those self proclaimed Rock Gods always did a a good job consuming stuff [baseheads], although I'm hard pressed to find a decent current example.

I'm thinking primarily of the difference between flashing yr. "bling" (heh) and, say, wearing flannel in your videos. I'm probably making a mistake of trying to tackle something that's actually a bit more socioeconomically complex than it appears on the surface, but I guess a simplistic statement would be to say that hip hop never had a '1977 punk rock explosion' to shame the musicians into hiding their affluence. Dressing "like a bum" and driving a beat-up car gains a rapper no street cred, none at all, whereas an indie rocker "flying the flannel" can do so to establish credibility.

Nothing against consumption per se (well, perhaps, but that's not the point here...)
But wanting people to give you a car for free isn't really 'consumption' as we know it. Just put your hard cash on the counter and they'll give you anything you want (except an iPod mini perhaps).
And the car in question is kind of a bad joke, isn't it? I mean I have seen music videos with proper pimp-style Mercedeses or war-vehicles (along with sparsely dressed girls draped all over them, of course). And while I consider them tasteless I can sort-of understand how they convey the right kind of street-cred for the target audiences. But this? WTF?

i just thought the whole thing was hilarious. I mean, snoop carries around a golden "goblet" to drink his gin & juice out of. We're talking about someone who's losing (or last long ago lost) his grip on reality. Can't we all just have a laugh at this lil' shizzle?

Religion is a crutch, but that's okay... humanity is a cripple.
