Dear Dumb As Dirt Referrer Spammer


You might not have noticed, but I no longer show referrers on this blog. This means you can stop your stupid *%^#ing dDOS/referrer-spam script from hammering my server (20 GETs in 5 seconds — WTF?) any time now, or at least rewrite the piece of @*+% so that it doesn’t crash the servers you’re trying to enslave for your Google juicing.

You'll be shocked to hear that they don't know from HTTP response codes, either: I noticed the other week that my long-abandoned wiki was a festering cesspool of referrer spam, so I just switched it all to 410 Gone. Doesn't seem to have had any effect. I wonder if they follow external 301s? Say to rather large downloads from microsoft.com?
